Many people use Christmas for a reason to go shopping, give and get gifts, and say “Happy Holidays”.
Nothing is wrong with these things, but we need to remember the real reason why we celebrate. It’s not the presents, it’s not the “holiday spirit”, it’s not the lights and the Santa figure in every store saying “Ho! Ho! Ho!”
The reason why we celebrate is because on this night we remember (more than any other time) that the Almighty God sent His only son, whom He loved, to save us from our sins and give all who believe in Him, eternal life!
“For unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given. And the government shall upon His shoulders, and His name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince Of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be NO end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order and establish it with Judgement and Justice from that time forward, ever forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will preform this.” ~Isaiah 9: 6-7
P.S. You’ve probably heard the saying “Jesus is the reason for the season”. It’s a great saying, but think of it this way. “We are the reason for the season, Jesus is the reason why we celebrate!”
How do you celebrate this time of year?
